Glenn Beck has shocked and surprised everyone by saying some more controversial and unpleasant things. This time, he accused a number of politicians, but especially Hillary Clinton, of hypocrisy over topics such as same-sex marriage. Clinton earned Beck’s ire for only supporting same-sex marriage when it was “popular” to do so.
“Wait a minute. This is the biggest… you’re saying this is the civil rights issue of our day, and you were such a coward, you couldn’t do it until Hollywood changed everybody’s mind. These people are disgusting.”
After a quick joke about Hillary Clinton having come out, Beck followed up with this gem:
“I’m telling you, I’m telling you, Hillary Clinton will be having sex with a woman on the, on the White House desk if it becomes popular. She will be. She’ll be like, ‘Look, the arc of history wasn’t ready for a president to be a lesbian and have sex on the desk.’”
There’s not really much to add here, other than a reminder that this is hardly the first time Beck’s spoken up on LGBT issues. Earlier this month, in the week of Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich’s resignation, Beck complained about the ambiguity surrounding terminology, comparing LGBT groups to terrorists:
“Or is it is not that you feel that way it’s that these groups are becoming nothing but a terrorist organization that just by changing the language I can lose my job if I say ‘homosexual’ or ‘gay’ or ‘queer’ I could lose my job and so you never know and so you keep everyone in fear.”
In his defense, Beck has said on several occasions that he supports same-sex marriage, believing that the government has no place in determining marriage, based on his strong libertarian views.
